In a small town in northern Algeria during the 1990s, at the height of the dark decade that tore the country apart, three unemployed young men navigate the daily lives of life, caught between endless boredom and the anticipation of the improbable, between humor and despair. This documentary bears witness to an era from which Algeria has managed to recover, once again facing alone attempts at external destabilization, the devaluation of its local currency by the World Bank, and the interference and pressure of international financial lobbies.

A warm, attentive chronicle of everyday life in a small Algerian town, with the backdrop of the inhabitants' development and beautification of one of the neighborhoods. We meet an amateur mechanic, a retired man from France, a doctor, old women and young men. Everyone plays... in front of the camera of one of the youngsters. Even when the riots in Kabylia disrupt the course of daily life in the Cité des Martyrs.

Yema

A small abandoned house, isolated in the Algerian countryside. Here Ouardia has buried her son Tarik, a soldier possibly killed by his own brother Ali, leader of an Islamist group. In this atmosphere, tense with pain and brittle with drought, life will little by little reassert itself. Thanks to the garden that Ouardia will bring to life by dint of courage, work, and obstinacy.

Me and My Sister

Louise, who has just written a novel, comes to Paris to meet with a potential publisher. While in the city, she stays with her older sister, Martine, who in many ways is the exact opposite of Louise: she lives in a fashionable neighborhood, is cold to others, and has snobby friends, while Louise lives in a small town and is thoroughly unpretentious.
