What was Finlandization? What did lying to oneself do to a nation? How low did Finland grovel in the mud and what was all that was necessary? Or was it a success story, because independence was preserved? The series takes us from the end of the World War to the 1990s. It focuses on the 1970s, with its 'Taistoists' and its liturgies of friendship, as well as on the role played by Finnish Broadcasting Company and other media in the Finlandization process.

Poliisin poika

The petty criminal Trampas is released from prison and immediately starts planning new jobs with his girlfriend's simpleminded brother Lepsu. They are joined by Trampas's pregnant girlfriend and Jusse, a refugee from Rwanda, as a driver.

Viimeiset rotannahat

Anssi Mänttäri’s low-budget movies with their intimate content have become classics. In this black comedy that takes place in Helsinki in summer the main character (played by Mänttäri himself) jumps from one bar and bed to the next. Especially vulgar black humour.

Rikos & rakkaus

In a comedy set in Rovaniemi, the parish’s housekeeper Kristiina Pahka falls in love with Marsipaani Räikkonen, even though he knows that the man is a petty criminal. Under the leadership of hard-hitting Inspector Rautapää, the city’s police force will have to investigate many kinds of crimes, of which Marsipaani’s close friends know one or another.
